Meet and Greet Stitchers Around the World!

Hello Peeps,

Miss H joined the Meet and Greet Stitchers Around the World! It is run by the wonderful Mdm Samm.

Miss H is a hand stitcher. She absolutely LURVES doing hand stitching. (The Mother says Miss H is better at it than she is, but don't tell Miss H that because it will give her a big head!)

This is Ellie. The pattern is by Jenny of Elefantz from a few years ago.

Miss H stitched Ellie when she was just beginning to hand stitch - and it has remained one of her favourites!

Miss H tried something different with these two girls - she did them mostly in grey scale and then added pops of her favourite colours!
The patterns are by Lilipopo.

Dream Catcher.

Bunny Ears.

The last one Miss H wants to show off is these cute foxies. She made it to go with her quilt. The pattern is "Just Relax" by Cinderberry Stitches.

Aren't the foxes sooo coolio?!

Tree Bird Blog Hop.

Hello Peeps,

Today is the Mothers day on the Tree Bird Hop.  Have you seen what amazing things people have been creating - outstanding!

Thank you to the wonderful Madm Samm and the fantastic cheer leader Lana for all their work in organising this Hop.

The Mother asked if she could use MY blog to show her things and being a nice sheep I said yes, if I could narrate!

So here goes.....

She eventually found some of the lovely material of Tracy Lizotte online but it was VERY expensive to post it to little ol' New Zealand. So, she thought again.

But first up - did you see, did you see, the Mother and Miss H won the wonderful print that Madm Samm had to give away.  They love it.  Oooh, two other birds flew down to have a look too.

So the Mother decided to try her hand at raw edged applique.  These two beautiful birds come from a pattern by Sally Giblin.

This is a tui - or sometimes called a parson bird.  The little ball of fluff/feather at his throat is white so he looks like he's wearing a clerical collar.

This is the fantail - piwakawaka in Maori.

They look gorgeous on her window seat inside together.  Did you see me in the picture?

Then she took some inspiration for crazy patchwork from Christine at Patchwork Allsorts. Check out her beautiful crazy patch! She is awesome at it.  The Mother is a real beginner!

She found this material and cut it up to add on to her crazy patch material.

And voila - she made a canvas picture.  'Birds in a tree'
When she first finished I mentioned her tree wasn't straight!  She had to pull it all off the canvas and do it again. It was a bit tense when she ripped the material at the side because of the staples and had to add more material and cover a couple of holes.  She definately thinks she needs more practice at this form of sewing!

See this bird sitting on his branch.

And this one flying free.

Next up she MADE some material.  This was fun. Freezer paper, a graphic and Google was all it took!   She is going to use the little pictures to make a door stop and a little lavender hanger.

And finally today, she found more birds in Grandma's garden.

Found in an Op Shop (Thrift Shop).

Just for you Madm Samm - some cross stitch to make you smile ( Hugs, love and prayers)

Thanks everyone for flying over to our blog today.  Check out the list below for the other blog hoppers today - you will love what they have made.

A Tramp and Some Shopping

Hello Peeps,

Last Saturday and Sunday Miss H went on a tramp in Pirongia Forest Park. She had so much fun - especially orienteering in the dark through the bush.

This is her tent which she shared with two other girls. They had a possum come visit them in the night - he freaked them out when he stared at them for ten seconds through the fly screen!

On the way back from dropping Miss H off for her tramp, the Mother and the Bird Lady went shopping.

And look at the treasures she found. Some quilting magazines...

...and of course some fabric!

Threads too! Whoops - I have gotten caught up in the pretty colours!

I wonder what this is?

The Mother also got Miss H some gifts too.

Two coolio books - one about Beatrice Potter, and the other about Anne Frank.

Ooh, they are soooo good. Miss H has already started reading Miss Potter.

And some Cottage Garden Thread. Miss H can't wait to use it!

And...
HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!

Saturday Show: Eye Spy Quilt

Hello Peeps,

Today's Show is the Geek's Eye Spy Quilt. The Mother made it years ago when he was a lot younger (now he is in his last year of his course at university and he wants a new quilt). However he still uses his Eye Spy Quilt.

The Mother braved the Geek's room so Miss H could take photos of the quilt. Isn't it coolio?

Heehee. It has a pink square!

The Mother hand stitched it.

 And added buttons too.

This chicken block is one of my favourites.

Even the back has soooo much to look at.

Oh, look! There is even a sheep on the quilt!

Right now Miss H is on a tramp in Pirongia Forest Park - I hope she is having fun!

An Oldie but a Goodie!

Hello Peeps,

On Wednesday the Mother asked Miss H to bake some jam filled muffins to take out to Connect Group.

After trying unsuccessfully to find a recipe on the internet she opened the old New Zealand Edmonds Recipe Book and found...

a Butterfly cupcake recipe. One of her favourites from when she was younger.

Mmmmm... They smell soooo good.

Don't they look delicious?

What we have been up to.

Hello Peeps,

Miss H accidently forgot to write the post for the Saturday Show last Saturday. It is REALLY hard to find good assistants! There will definitely be a Saturday Show this Saturday.

Miss H has been sewing blocks for a new quilt. Thses are just a few of them on her design board.

She has also been stitching some cute Star Wars stitcheries by Wild Olive. Free patterns HERE!

The Mother sewed this cute stamped birdie with a hand stitched twig and berries in its mouth into a pincushion.

She also made this coolio "Enter your pin" pincushion. She got the idea off Pinterest.

I wonder what she will be making with these blocks. She has sewen quite a few...

On Sunday Miss H, the Mother and the Boss (they forgot me! See what I mean about finding good assisants - REALLY HARD to find) went to watch the NZ Breakers play in Game 2 (they had already won Game 1) of the ANBL (Australian National Basketball League) Final. Although the Breakers are from New Zealand (which is definitely not part of Australia) they are allowed to play in the league.

And guess what? They won!!! On the very last shot!
The NZ Breakers have won the ANBL 4 times in the past five years! And they are the ONLY New Zealand team in the Aussie league. YAY for New Zealand.

Miss H took this picture of the Breakers with their championship rings.

IT HAS ARRIVED!!!

Hello Peeps,

Miss H's parcel arrived on Sunday - YAY!!!  It had been sent to her old house, and so on Sunday the nice man who now lives there gave Miss H her mail. She nearly snatched it out of his hand when she realized what it was (but her manners were remembered just in time, heehee).

And look what her swap partner, the lovely Wendy from Sugarlane Quilts, sent.

Isn't it sooooo COOLIO? It hangs on the sewing room door (she couldn't bear hiding it in a wardrobe) so she can see it every day.

Miss H loves it to bits (not literally).
And it smells sooo yummy too!

The lovely Wendy also made Miss H an "H" in aqua, red and pink!

The picture frame sits on Miss H's desk.  And makes her HAPPY!

Look at the coolio postcards.

This building was in the movie Australia (the one with Hugh Jackman in it).

Thank you sooo much Wendy - Miss H absolutely lurves her gifts!
