Big Announcement

Hello Peeps and Paw-Pals,

Snowy and I have decided that for the next six months we will do themed monthly blog posts.

Here is the themed monthly blog post list:

It is very nearly May, so I am going to make you wait and see what the first themed month is all about. Hee...hee...hee!

This one should be quite fun - it will be all about animals that jump... but it's not quite what you expect... heeheehee

July will have Jenny of Elefantz's stitcheries done by Miss H and the Mother.

August is going to be all about the alphabet.

The Mother and Snowy will be raiding her fabric supply for this one. (Though I think Snowy will just spend his time complaining about not getting a walk...)

This is the last themed month and it is all about organization - which is just in time because in November we will start Christmas and end of year preparations.

Te Whariki

Hello Peeps,

It has been a loooooooong time since I have done a blog post. Miss H is currently on her study break - but it hasn't been fun at ALL because she has had three assignments and a 3-D model all due this week!

But she has finished and handed them all in now so I am back. And guess what - I am allowed to show you the model she made! YIPEE!

Miss H had to create a 3-D model that shows the interconnectedness (big big word!) of the principles and strands that make up NZ's early childhood curriculum. It also had to be durable to last in a preschool setting.

So Miss H came up with an idea which meant she could sew and hand stitch...

Here is the beginning of the project.

Miss H sewed two sides together with fusible stuff in between to make them 3-D.

And here is the finished model:

New Zealand's early childhood curriculum is written in both English and Maori and is called Te Whariki (said like Tear Far-re-key).

The principles are in the bright colours and the strands are in the pastel colours.

Each triangle flips back to add to the 3-D effect.

On the back of each triangle is the equivalent Maori word.
Miss H hand stitched around each of the nine flaps in black thread.

The key sentence is revealed underneath when the flaps are flipped open.

And on the top of each diamond is a letter from the word Te Whariki.

The backing is patterned flannel so it's nice and soft.

And of course, Miss H just had to use one of her stitcheries to make a label. Heehee.

P.S. Pop by on Monday to hear a big announcement about what will be happening on my blog in the coming months.

A Hug Me Bear!

Hi there Paw-Pals,

Ooooh, look what arrived in the mail!!  Yipee!  It is a hug me bear!
The Mother has had a bit of a hard week and has resigned from her part-time job.  She was feeling a bit flat and so Miss H sent her a wonderful little present.  He is so cute - with his arms wide open to give her a BIG, BIG hug!

And look- a perfect home for him in a little old pram Grandma had from Miss H's Aunty's childhood.  It is a lovely size for Bear to sleep in.

Aren't we both so adorable? This is my "where's my treat" look!
The Mother is planning a week of decluttering, sewing and heading for Thursday Coffee Time at the Community Centre/Church where they are all looking forward to seeing her after all these months of not being able to come.

Slobbery Kisses,
From Snowy.

Beary Special Birthday!

Hello Peeps,

This weekend is Miss H's birthday - I told her she couldn't possibly be having another one as she had one last year. Apparently people have a birthday once every year - I think I should have 2 a year...

Miss H's pen pal, Flower, sent her a birthday parcel.

Look at this coolio card that Flower hand-made for Miss H.

Oooh... what's in the parcel? Can I open it?

This coolio little bear was inside the parcel. He is the first bear that Flower has ever made - and he is just perfect!
Flower left it up to Miss H to name him... and she chose to call him Chester.

Isn't Chester sooo handsome?

And look at the lovely little heart note he comes with.

Chester isn't the only bear Miss H got for her birthday.

The Bird Lady gave Miss H this cutie who has been named Albert.

Hope you have a BEARY special birthday Miss H.
From Baa, Chester, and Albert.
