Hello Peeps,
Today is the Mothers day on the Tree Bird Hop. Have you seen what amazing things people have been creating - outstanding!
Thank you to the wonderful
Madm Samm and the fantastic cheer leader
Lana for all their work in organising this Hop.
The Mother asked if she could use MY blog to show her things and being a nice sheep I said yes, if I could narrate!
So here goes.....
She eventually found some of the lovely material of
Tracy Lizotte online but it was VERY expensive to post it to little ol' New Zealand. So, she thought again.
But first up - did you see, did you see, the Mother and Miss H won the wonderful print that Madm Samm had to give away. They love it. Oooh, two other birds flew down to have a look too.
So the Mother decided to try her hand at raw edged applique. These two beautiful birds come from a pattern by Sally Giblin.
This is a
tui - or sometimes called a parson bird. The little ball of fluff/feather at his throat is white so he looks like he's wearing a clerical collar.
This is the
fantail - piwakawaka in Maori.
They look gorgeous on her window seat inside together. Did you see me in the picture?
Then she took some inspiration for crazy patchwork from Christine at
Patchwork Allsorts. Check out her beautiful crazy patch! She is awesome at it. The Mother is a real beginner!
She found this material and cut it up to add on to her crazy patch material.
And voila - she made a canvas picture. 'Birds in a tree'
When she first finished I mentioned her tree wasn't straight! She had to pull it all off the canvas and do it again. It was a bit tense when she ripped the material at the side because of the staples and had to add more material and cover a couple of holes. She definately thinks she needs more practice at this form of sewing!
See this bird sitting on his branch.
And this one flying free.
Next up she MADE some material. This was fun. Freezer paper, a graphic and Google was all it took! She is going to use the little pictures to make a door stop and a little lavender hanger.
And finally today, she found more birds in Grandma's garden.
