Miss H's Birthday Party!

Hello Peeps,

Miss H had her birthday party on Sunday. The party was Alice in Wonderland themed.

Lots of sweet food! It was all soooo yummy!
Thank-you to all the lovely people who baked the sweet treats.

There was, of course, savoury food too! Lovely club sandwiches and asparagus rolls - just like all tea parties should have.

The Mother made a fabulous cake with a little bit of help from Miss Bee.

Miss Bee made this lovely bunny bum out of fondant. Isn't it adorable?

And look at the amazing tree trunk chocolate cake the Mother made.

The rabbit was trying to get to the M&M's that were secretly hidden in the middle.

What To Do With A Sock Darner When You Don't Darn Socks...

Hello Peeps,

Remember this picture:

Well, we found out the UFO that the Mother bought is a sock darner.

But the Mother doesn't darn socks... hmmm... what to do with it..?

So the Mother got thinking... she remembered something she had seen on Pinterest - but she wouldn't tell me what!

So I did some snooping.

Why is she painting her fabric black?

And what does it have to do with this red spotted fabric, green felt, and pretty red thread?

At this point she caught me snooping and tossed me out of the Sewing Room until she was all finished!
Sneaking, sneaking, Baa not sneaking!

And here is what she made:

A pretty little crow on top of a pumpkin pincushion!
Isn't it coolio?

She got some copper wire from the Boss and a twig from outside just to finish off her pumpkin.

And finally today, because I am a sheep who LURVES chocolate I thought I would show you the two lovely cakes I got to sample last week.

Miss H made this divine Black Forest Cake last Thursday - it was DELICIOUS!

Miss Bee (who taught Miss H to crochet) made this adorable birthday cake for her daughter's first birthday. Yummy!

Meet and Greet Stitchers Around the World!

Hello Peeps,

Miss H joined the Meet and Greet Stitchers Around the World! It is run by the wonderful Mdm Samm.

Miss H is a hand stitcher. She absolutely LURVES doing hand stitching. (The Mother says Miss H is better at it than she is, but don't tell Miss H that because it will give her a big head!)

This is Ellie. The pattern is by Jenny of Elefantz from a few years ago.

Miss H stitched Ellie when she was just beginning to hand stitch - and it has remained one of her favourites!

Miss H tried something different with these two girls - she did them mostly in grey scale and then added pops of her favourite colours!
The patterns are by Lilipopo.

Dream Catcher.

Bunny Ears.

The last one Miss H wants to show off is these cute foxies. She made it to go with her quilt. The pattern is "Just Relax" by Cinderberry Stitches.

Aren't the foxes sooo coolio?!

Tree Bird Blog Hop.

Hello Peeps,

Today is the Mothers day on the Tree Bird Hop.  Have you seen what amazing things people have been creating - outstanding!

Thank you to the wonderful Madm Samm and the fantastic cheer leader Lana for all their work in organising this Hop.

The Mother asked if she could use MY blog to show her things and being a nice sheep I said yes, if I could narrate!

So here goes.....

She eventually found some of the lovely material of Tracy Lizotte online but it was VERY expensive to post it to little ol' New Zealand. So, she thought again.

But first up - did you see, did you see, the Mother and Miss H won the wonderful print that Madm Samm had to give away.  They love it.  Oooh, two other birds flew down to have a look too.

So the Mother decided to try her hand at raw edged applique.  These two beautiful birds come from a pattern by Sally Giblin.

This is a tui - or sometimes called a parson bird.  The little ball of fluff/feather at his throat is white so he looks like he's wearing a clerical collar.

This is the fantail - piwakawaka in Maori.

They look gorgeous on her window seat inside together.  Did you see me in the picture?

Then she took some inspiration for crazy patchwork from Christine at Patchwork Allsorts. Check out her beautiful crazy patch! She is awesome at it.  The Mother is a real beginner!

She found this material and cut it up to add on to her crazy patch material.

And voila - she made a canvas picture.  'Birds in a tree'
When she first finished I mentioned her tree wasn't straight!  She had to pull it all off the canvas and do it again. It was a bit tense when she ripped the material at the side because of the staples and had to add more material and cover a couple of holes.  She definately thinks she needs more practice at this form of sewing!

See this bird sitting on his branch.

And this one flying free.

Next up she MADE some material.  This was fun. Freezer paper, a graphic and Google was all it took!   She is going to use the little pictures to make a door stop and a little lavender hanger.

And finally today, she found more birds in Grandma's garden.

Found in an Op Shop (Thrift Shop).

Just for you Madm Samm - some cross stitch to make you smile ( Hugs, love and prayers)

Thanks everyone for flying over to our blog today.  Check out the list below for the other blog hoppers today - you will love what they have made.

A Tramp and Some Shopping

Hello Peeps,

Last Saturday and Sunday Miss H went on a tramp in Pirongia Forest Park. She had so much fun - especially orienteering in the dark through the bush.

This is her tent which she shared with two other girls. They had a possum come visit them in the night - he freaked them out when he stared at them for ten seconds through the fly screen!

On the way back from dropping Miss H off for her tramp, the Mother and the Bird Lady went shopping.

And look at the treasures she found. Some quilting magazines...

...and of course some fabric!

Threads too! Whoops - I have gotten caught up in the pretty colours!

I wonder what this is?

The Mother also got Miss H some gifts too.

Two coolio books - one about Beatrice Potter, and the other about Anne Frank.

Ooh, they are soooo good. Miss H has already started reading Miss Potter.

And some Cottage Garden Thread. Miss H can't wait to use it!

And...
HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!
