Saturday Show: Nine Squares of Love

Hello Peeps,

Welcome to the Saturday Show. Today is one of The Mother's quilts.

She made it to go with her red theme in the lounge and kitchen.

Doesn"t it look stunning with the basket and the roses? (It was my idea to photograph them together - what a clever sheep I am!)

The Design Diva quilted it. Just straight lines through the squares like The Mother wanted and then something coolio in the border. And those hearts and swirls REALLY are coolio.

This is how it looks in whole. Thank you Grandma and The Mother for holding it up.

And finally, this is where the quilt usually lives.

Lots of love

Bunny Beanie!

Hello Peeps,

I finally got Miss H to take her bunny beanie off so I can show you. But first of all I shall introduce you to Frankie.

Here is Frankie. He used to be a model for hairdressers to practice on until he was retired (his hair got a little short). Frankie will be modelling Miss H's beanie today, and you will likely see him again when Miss H finishes some more beanies.

This is the Bunny Beanie. Isn't it sooo cute?

Look at the awesome floppy ears. His not mine. Heehee.

Uh, it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big for me!!! I definitely need a sheep size beanie.

Miss H put pink on the inner ears so it looks more bunny like.

Saturday Show: Squared Away

Hello Peeps,

The Mother made this quilt for Miss H out of a single panel. It is to add to her collection of quilts on her window seat.

Isn't it lovely?  This is closer to its actual colours than the picture below.

Don't the boats look coolio in the background?

The boats were out for their usual Saturday sail in the bay.

Mmm... quilts smell soooo good.

The fabric is by Bee in My Bonnet and Miss H just loves it.

The Mother quilted in with double swiggly lines both ways to give it a lattice kind of look.

Happy Hippo!

Hello Peeps,

The Mother has finished her beanie for Baby G. Not that it is a competiton but Miss H finished hers first - I don't have any pictures yet because she won't take it off for even a second!!!

Isn't it such a coolio hippo hat? And it's purple!

Such a pretty pink bow. Baby G loves it!

Uh, I think it is a bit big for me Mother. Do you think you could make me a smaller one?

Can cats and dogs really be friends???

Hello Peeps,

The other day The Mother and Miss H took Grandma for afternoon tea and then a movie for her birthday.

The Mother's coffee had a lovely fern in it. Isn't it sooo coolio?

They looked out the window of the cafe and saw a lovely, very placid cat sitting on its owner's shoulder walking through the outside part of the shopping center.

Oh yes, and there was its friend the dog too. Miss H rushed outside and got a wonderful picture of the cat lying with the dog. Isn't that amazing?

Miss H also got to hold the cat and she said he was all fluff.

And no, I am not in any of these photos because I was not allowed to go to the movies with them. :'(

Saturday Show: Crazy Cats!

Hello Peeps,

We were in Whitianga last weekend so Miss H took some quilts to photograph.

The Mother made this wonderful quilt all out of scraps. Doesn't it look coolio draped over the log?

And on the pohutukawa tree we slung it over.

This is Miss H's and my favourite cat.  Miss H helped choose the colours (that's why it is aqua...)

Um, Miss H did you notice that cat at the top is missing a leg..?

They got out!!!

Hello Peeps,

The Design Diva came for a visit today. And the Mother dug up the scraps bags to see if there were any that the Design Diva could use in her hexagon quilt (one of the hexagons was shown on the blog a few weeks ago here!) - so out came the scraps. All three full bags of them (and that wasn't all the scraps...)!!!

A majority of the scraps were from the wonderful Aunty M (who returned home to Canada last year).  We hadn't really looked through the scraps before. There was fat quarters and a couple half yards and lotsa lotsa varying sizes of fabric.

This is me sitting on part of the scrap pile!

We found over forty different fabrics for the Design Diva to make into hexagons. Yay!

It all got a bit much for the Enemy.

Miss H also found lots of bright fabrics which she cut into 2 1/2" squares for a postage stamp quilt she is making.

Aren't there some bright and pretty fabrics!

I love those shoes!

Is that a cat Miss H?

Saturday Show: A Chance of Grace

Hello Peeps,

And Welcome to today's Show!

Look at this little cutie that the Mother made!  It's for Baby G - the daughter of our friend Miss JJ.  The window shot makes it look a little washed out but it is quite bright and fresh looking and will suit her room perfectly.

I love sitting on newly made quilts - they always seem so soft and happy.

Can you see me sitting up straight - the Mother has had a sore shoulder lately and has been working on her posture - so I am showing her how to do it!  Hee...hee...

And look at the back - nearly as happy as the front - I like it all.  Especially the wavy quilting lines - reminds me of the sea - just as well I don't get seasick!

How Many Needlecases Does One Need?

Hello Peeps,

After the needlecase swap that we did, the Mother went needlecase crazy!
In addition to the two needlecases we were given, the Mother has made 8!!! more.

Look at the needlecase stack.

A strawberry or two...

The Mother did one with pips (the one she made for Miss H) and one with some cute ribbon.

How about some mushrooms for when you are stitching in the garden? They are sure to attract fairies.

The Mother also made some butterflies (pattern from Wild Olive). Aren't they so coolio?

The Mother used a lovely white ribbon to tie the butterfly closed.

And this cute baby butterfly.

The Mother found a cute pattern to make a Letter Needlecase.

And she used a different pattern to make Miss H's Letter Needlecase. And wound it closed with a coolio bit of thread and a heart button.

How many needlecases do you have?
