Finishing School Quilt: Duck and Cross

Hello Peeps,

Today's block is a duck. Quack! Quack!

Earlier this year Miss H looked after a little girl called Little Bee. And each morning before Miss H dropped her off at Preschool they would go and feed the ducks down the road.

Miss H now looks after another little girl after Preschool one day a week so the block also represents that.

This small block of a cross represents Miss H's faith.

Go the All Blacks!

Hello Peeps,

The All Blacks are New Zealand's national rugby team and on Sunday they will be playing the Springboks (South Africa) in the semi-finals of the Rugby World Cup in England. Rugby is one of New Zealand's national sports.

One of the burger chains in NZ decided to go all out and support the All Blacks by making an "all black" burger!

It may look like one very burnt little burger but it tastes just the same as a normal burger. Yummmmm....

Go the All Blacks!

We will all be waking up before 4am on Sunday to watch the game.

Finishing School Quilt: Just Because Blocks

Hello Peeps,

Miss H has also sewn some blocks for her quilt "just because she likes them" so they don't have a little story or meaning.

She found the pattern for these cute trees on Pinterest. Here is the link.

Miss H worked out the calculations for this plus herself.

Aren't these two stars coolio?

One must always make a few simple blocks too!

And these itty bitty blocks were all made out of scraps from other blocks.

Pop by next Tuesday for an exciting announcement of what Miss H and I will be up to next year...

Finishing School Quilt: Snowy

Hello Peeps,

Today's block is of the Enemy (a.k.a Snowy).

He has been a member of the family for over 3 years. Miss H has taught Snowy to sit, shake paws, and ring a counter bell. He also knows how to lie down.

Miss H tried to take a photo shoot of him, but unfortunately he wasn't very co-operative.

"He doesn't even look like me... I am way more handsome."

"Just give me the cheese!"

"Come on, hurry up. Mum is making dinner and I want some chicken!"

And yes, He did get some chicken from the Mother - she is such a softie...

Finishing School Quilt: New Zealand

Hello Peeps,

Last week I showed you Miss H's England block.

This week's block is New Zealand. Miss H decided on making this block because NZ is her home country and she loves living here.

Just like the English block, Miss H machine stitched it with raw edge applique.

Kayaking Down the River

Hello Peeps,

Yesterday afternoon Miss H, the Boss and I went for a kayak down a river to the ocean. (Thankfully the Enemy didn't come with us...)

It was beautiful down the river.

We saw three white ducks - this was as close as we could get.

This is the first of 7 fish we caught (this one and another one were too small so we tossed them back).

We stopped at this rotting log and climbed up onto it for some late afternoon tea. The supplies disappeared so quickly that I didn't get a photo - or a bite!

It was over 10 km from where we started to where the Mother came to pick us up. We didn't get home until five minutes to 6! Thankfully it was still light.

Finishing School Quilt: England

Hello Peeps,

As most of you already know Miss H, Grandma, and I went to England in July. So Miss H decided to add a block to her Finishing School quilt to represent our adventure.

Miss H decided that the outline of the United Kingdom would make the perfect block to go in her quilt. Isn't it coolio?

She stitched it on with raw edge applique.
