Stitch Love Along

Hello Peeps,

Miss H and the Mother decided to join in the fun going on at Wild Olive. They have joined Round 2 and made a Darling Dachshund wrist rest each from the Stitch Love: Sweet Creatures Big and Small.

This is Lucy. She was made out of an old wool blanket. Miss H made her.

The Mother made this little cutie - Dodger. He is a shorter than Lucy because he is only a little puppy.

Aren't they very coolio wrist rests?

Go check out what other people have made HERE!

Finishing School Quilt

Hello Peeps,

At the start of this year Miss H started a very special quilt. It was her last year of school this year and she wanted a quilt that showed the different things she did this year. She also added in some blocks that have no meaning, but look very coolio.

She chose this lovely fabric range.

Isn't this the best fabric name for a quilt about finishing school?

This was the first big block that Miss H made. Miss H lurves churn dashes.

Each Thursday I will post a quilt block from Miss H's Finishing School quilt and the story that goes with it.

Aqua Star - Dogs on Quilts

Hello Peeps,

This is the second quilt for the Pets on Quilts show 2015. The Mother started it last year when Miss H went to India and finished it this year when Miss H went to England - bit of an adventurer is Miss H and me!!  We went out to Miss H's uncle's farm and it was the perfect chance for a photo shoot.

It was hard to get good help though...

Here is the quilt. It is in the same fabric as one of the other quilts the Mother made for Miss H.

And this is our entry in the category of Dogs On Quilts.  That's Snowy and his cousin Louie.

I just love the bright colours in it!

The backing is some of Miss H's favourite fabric.

Thanks to LillyPad Quilting for organising this special event.

Dexter! An Animal themed quilt.

Hello Peeps,

Part of the Mother's presents for Miss H were two quilts the Mother had made.
WE decided it would be fun to enter this quilt into the Pets on Quilts 2015 show.

It is a pattern from Shwin and Shwin and can be found HERE!

The cat has coolio aqua glasses and an aqua bow tie.

The back is some really cute baby fabric that the Mother found on sale. Her and Miss H just lurve it!

The binding is the same fabric as the cat - colourful hexagons.

The Enemy and his cousin photo bombed my picture!

As mentioned we are entering this quilt into the animal themed quilt category and in another blog a quilt in the dogs on quilts category.  Thank you to Lillypad quilting for all the work she does in organising this event each year.

Bledisloe Cup 2015 - not at all sewing related, but very very fun!

Hello Peeps,

On Saturday night Miss H got to go to her first ever All Blacks game on Saturday night (NZT). The All Blacks are New Zealand's national rugby team. They were playing their arch rivals - the Wallabies (Australia) - for the Bledisloe Cup, which NZ has now won the last 13 times in a row.

This is Richie McCaw, the captain, warming up. It was his 142 test match - he holds the world record for the most played international test matches.

Pre-game chat.

The teams lined up for the national anthem. The whole stadium sang the NZ one.

This is the haka - a Maori war dance - which is done before every game.

WE WON! We absolutely smashed the Aussies - 4 tries to 1!
It was the last game on NZ soil for some of our senior players, who were either retiring or going overseas to play - including Dan Carter (pictured above), Ma'a Nonu, Richie McCaw, Conrad Smith, Kevin Mealamu, and Tony Woodcock. But first they will play for us in the World Cup later this year.

YAY! The Bledisloe remains in NZ for another year!

Miss H, the Mother, and the Boss absolutely loved going to the game and it was such a fantastic game to watch!

Presents from the Mother. YAY!

Hello Peeps,

Last week I showed you a picture of the presents the Mother made for Miss H.

Isn't this bag soooo coolio?! It is perfect for holding things on Miss H's sewing desk.

The Mother made these 2 cute pouches out of some London fabric.

On the back The Mother put a strip of the other fabric at the top.

This is another cute bag/pouch. It folds over and then the elastic slips over the button.

Oh, oh, oh! And look! The Mother covered a button for the pouch!
I think it looks a bit like a yummy cupcake...

The Mother finished these two quilts for Miss H. One which she had started in April 2014, and the other which she had almost finished before Miss H left for England.
I will show them to you in a separate blog posts.

The Mother also bought some coolio presents. This was a bargain at the Op Shop.

Look! In the inside it has a quilting board and it has somewhere to put the fabric pieces - either on the sandpaper or the soft side.

And this adorable mini suitcase storage container.

There and Back Again

Hello Peeps,

Miss H and I are now safely home again. Here are some pictures of our last few days in England and our journey home.

Miss H went for a swim in the freezing British sea.

Brr...I only touched the edge of the water.

Look at these coolio sheepies that I saw. They must of eaten sooo much chocolate that they started turning brown - hee hee!

On Wednesday night there was a fireworks display to say good-bye to me... oh, and maybe because of the Swanage carnival too.

On Saturday evening, Miss H, Grandma, and I hopped on a plane leaving lovely England.

Of course we needed lots and lots of sweeties for our looooooong trip.

We flew all the way from there to here!

Miss H bought the Mother a special Harrods mug with a Queen's Guard on it. She also got the Mother some of her favourite childhood sweets - pear drops and love hearts.

And look - Miss H has a mug the same, but with a Beefeater on it.

Guess what awaited Miss H when she got home...

...the Mother made Miss H some special gifts because she missed Miss H so much (though she won't admit it...)
