Star Wars Pillowcase!

Hello Paw-Pals,

Look what the Mother made.  Yep, a Star Wars pillow case. Jenny of Elefantz and others are making gifts through the year so they have lots of lovely things to give away for peoples' birthdays and for Christmas.
So the Mother thought she'd have a go at a pillowcase.  She actually got the measurements a bit wrong (which is what happens when you don't measure... woof.) - so it is a bit smaller than most pillowcases but no-one would really know!  Don't tell!!!

She actually made it for the guy who is co-manager with her at the Community Centre she works at.  She works 30 hours and he works 15.  He lurves Star Wars!  But you know what - I think it matches my dog bed perfectly...........just saying.........

This is MINE now!

All In One Day

Hello Paw-Pals,

The Mother and Miss H had a busy day yesterday. Before Miss H heads to Tauranga in a week and a half, they decided to finish off some projects that had been waiting. ALL IN ONE DAY! Most of them were flimsies or stitcheries waiting to be turned into a cushion or mini quilt.

This one is made from the same fabric as some of Miss H's bedroom quilts.

Isn't this one lovely? Miss H is going to take it with her to Tauranga...

... well, that is what she thinks. But I have claimed it.

Miss H loves dolphins and whales - so she couldn't resist stitching up this beluga.

It has been turned into a table cover for her sewing/studying table in Tauranga.
This is as close as I ever want to get to being underwater with fish.

Miss H finished this stitchery years ago.

And now it has been turned into this lovely mini and gifted to the Mother for her Easter decorations.

Lastly, Miss H's small rabbit quilt using a Windsor Lane charm pack.

Aren't they regal looking rabbits?

There was one more that they got partway through but didn't quite manage to finish as it needs some embellishments.

Completed Nutcracker Christmas

Hello Peeps,

Miss H, the Mother, Snowy and I have been on a lovely summer holiday spending a lot of our time at the beach.

But I forgot to show you the dinner for Christmas Eve. So, even though Christmas has well and truly passed, here is our Nutcracker Christmas.

There was only 6 of us - the Boss, the Mother, Grandma, Miss H and two guests from England - friends of the Mother's from 30 years ago!

All the food was completely vegan. Miss H didn't even let the tea drinkers have milk for their cuppas (well, actually, she did offer almond milk but that's not the same...)

Miss H was the Head Chef and everyone pitched in and helped to make the dinner a success.

First was appeterizers - assorted nuts of course!

Here is our dinner spread.

This is the lentil roast - yum!
But the gravy deserves a special mention. Mr. D, the Englishman, spent the entire time (about 3 hours) making the gravy - and it was totally worth it!

We nicknamed the roasted cauliflower "The Brain" because that is what we thought it looked like.

The recipe was by Jamie Oliver and it tasted truly divine!

Dessert was just as delicious. In the middle was a divinely rich raspberry chocolate truffle tart! And fear not, there was ice-cream (made with almond milk - it was REALLY good!). In fact, the only thing that didn't taste good was the store-bought vegan cheesecake (surrounded by strawberries) - cardboard would be an accurate description.

And there was a salted caramel apple pie! YUM! Miss H decorated it with a kiwi and the 4 stars to represent the Southern Cross.

This was the supper table at the end. Everything on the table represented one of the dances of the sweets in the Nutcracker ballet.

Everyone, even the friends of the family who popped in as a surprise and had some dessert, loved the food! So Miss H's challenge of a completely vegan Christmas was a total success, and she incorporated the Nutcracker story throughout.

This year it will be the Mother's turn to organise Christmas - and she has already chosen a theme...
