I'M BACK!!!

What do a flamingo, vintage telephone, and a cheeseburger have in common? 

(Apart from being handstitched...)

Well, it goes back a couple of weeks ago...

Miss H was looking through her numerous projects for something to whip up quickly. She couldn't find anything though, so she looked in the stitchery jar...

This is the stitchery jar where most of the stitcheries go to wait for the Mother or Miss H to make them into something - some have waited for years... 

Inside the jar Miss H found an assortment of stitcheries (including the above ones). Then she remembered some fabric she had found that would go perfectly with the stitcheries. 

This poor fabric was once a jelly roll which Miss H was going to use to make a quilt for the Mother. But then the plan was changed, and instead the Mother was given the fabric. Once again, ideas changed and it was given back to Miss H where it sat until she thought of something to do with it. By that time it was already cut into smaller pieces.

And now, at last, she has! 

Originally Miss H was going to surround a few stitcheries to make into smaller projects...

...but then she thought, "Why not make them into a quilt? Then they will all have a use!"

Unfortunately her next thought was that if she is making a quilt out of all the stitcheries that she thinks are cute, funny, or weird that she will need to make even more!!!

So instead of designing something to quickly whip up, she created another big project for herself... oops!

Hand stitching makes her happy though! Plus, she is choosing all sorts of quirky stitcheries to do that she really wanted to stitch but had no use for. 

Like this sword, hanging terrarium, and mouse with a cuppa.

These stitcheries have truly been made (and are being made) for this quilt.

P.S. Did you know that Fiji has only ever won 1 Olympic medal. Only one! It was a gold (wow!) in the Rugby 7's at the 2016 Summer Olympics. As you can imagine they were sooooo proud and happy that they decided to print $7 commemorative notes!

 How coolio is this note? It has the whole team on it. 

It is legal tender in Fiji. The Mother asked at every shop if they had one when she went on her cruise to Fiji. 

So next time you are buying something for $7 and have to use coins or get change, remember that in Fiji they have a convenient note you can use.

Woof! Woof! Ruff!

Is anyone still out there?

We have all be taking a break from blogging the last couple months, but Christmas is quickly approaching so we decided to start blogging again before the end of the year. Plus Baa and Miss H LURVE Christmas and are very excited for the theme that they have chosen this year.

But, it is still only November and my favourite human in the whole world has their birthday in November - the Mother! Woof! Woof! Woof!

Friends of the Mother and Boss have a bach (holiday house) on the Coromandel and every New Year's - well, every holiday no matter the season - that is where we go. Unfortunately, they do not allow the four legged kind inside the house (woof!) and so we have to sleep in a tent or the converted garage.

But there is also this caravan which is usually used by Miss H and her friend Kit Kat. The Mother had an idea to shabby chic it and then it would look nice enough for her to use when she goes down to the beach. 

The caravan was put on the property 11 years ago and hasn't moved or had a warrant of fitness since. 

This tree grew up and trapped the caravan in. It will never leave again. 

The curtains are raggedy and ripped. Miss H and Kit Kat put up with it as it was a place where they could get away from everyone and relax. 

The beds are quite comfy! 

As you can see, it is very dated and old. 

A few years ago the Boss built this double bed. It gets my stamp of softness!

At some point in the last eleven years, the kitchen was taken out - but it wasn't until recently that they decided to cover the giant hole in the floor (under the blue mat). Yes, Miss H and Kit Kat had to use -4 degree Celsius sleeping bags to stay warm!!!

Here I am hard at work helping the Boss take the handles off the drawers. 

Zzzzzzzzzz... it was a loooooooooong day. 

The Mother, Boss, Miss H and I have given it a complete make-over and I hope to show you in the next couple of weeks once it is all finished.

Left Behind :(

Hello Peeps,

The Mother has sailed away on a cruise heading to a few Fijian islands with the Boss and friends. Snowy and I teamed up and tried to hide in her luggage so we could go too, but... the Mother found us. Ooops!

Now Snowy just looks longingly into the distance waiting for the Mother to come home (he has separation anxiety, poor thing).

Don't worry though - he is going to get lots of walks and treats, plus Miss H will let him on the couch for snuggles (shh, don't tell the Boss). Hee...hee...

While the Mother is away Miss H has decided to do some craft that she hasn't done for a while. 

These "L-O-V-E" letters were once very pretty covered in scrap-booking paper but now they have been dreadfully faded after living in Miss H's window sill for a couple of years, so she decided it was time for a change up...

She stripped off the paper and was left with the original make over of the plain brown letters. 

After a little sanding Miss H used modge podge to attach stamps. These are the first two completed letters.

Aren't the stamps beautiful? They are pieces of art in miniature. Miss H used a mixture of very old stamps and newer stamps. 

Tonight Miss H is sitting down with some stitching of London-themed patterns while watching The Sound of Music. Miss H realised that her 6, 5, and 3 year old nieces know more about it than she does (she hasn't seen the movie as far as she can remember) when they wanted to play it with her. They assigned her the role of "governet" before explaining the story to her and she wants to be more knowledgeable next time they play. Hee...hee...hee...

Jeans Bags!

The Mother and Miss H used an old pair of jeans each to make two denim bags.

Aren't they coolio?

The Mother's is made out of more traditional denim and is extremely comfortable. 

Of course birdies are the prefect choice for everything, including denim!!!

Miss H's was made out of black denim - not as comfy!!!

It is Alice in Wonderland themed, complete with a red rose (which is not at all covering up a hole...). 

The Mother had some of the coolio-est multi-coloured thread. Perfect for the straps of Miss H's bag. 

Here are the backs of the bags - sparkles and classic denim.

September Soft Storytime: In the Backyard

Hello Peeps,

Miss H has been working on several soft books for a while and she thought September was the perfect time to share them - mainly because Miss H and I lurve lots of amazing alliteration! Hee...hee...hee...

The idea is from her Stitch Love book by Wild Olive (in fact, all the stitcheries were designed by Wild Olive). 

Miss H made them as a great resource to use with infants and toddlers. The first book I'm going to show is called "In the Backyard". 

Isn't the background fabric so coolio? 

A big thank you to the Boss for punching through all the eyelets. 

And here they are...

Lizards and snails are common in the garden. Snails are unfortunately a little too common and very naughty eating Grandma's plants!

Thankfully here in New Zealand we do not have any deadly poisonous spiders. Phew!

Butterflies are Miss H's favourite insect. She always smiles when she sees one. 

We don't have tortoises in our backyards in New Zealand, but when Miss H was younger and lived overseas her family had two. One time the Boss needed to transport them, so he put them in the back of the Isuzu Trooper. The poor tortoises were terrified and peed liters and liters, much to the Boss' horror. Hee...hee..hee...

When Miss H manages to finish the cover page she will tie them all together with this coolio yellow ribbon - if I can get out of it...

Catch Up!

Hello Peeps,

Miss H and I have moved back up to Auckland and in with the Mother and the Boss. We decided to have a break away from the blog for a little while.

But Miss H hasn't stopped doing some projects behind-the-scenes. So I thought I would catch you up on what we have been up to.

Miss H made a couple more cameras for one of university friend's children. The pattern can be found HERE!

This coolio stitchery is going to be turned into a little seed bag to store Miss H and the Mother's new seeds. 

Did you notice that Miss stitched the carrots in orange, purple, yellow, and red? We found some seeds that grow some different coloured carrots and I can't wait to see what they look like. That is if Miss H manages to grow them successfully... she did miss out on the green-fingered gene. 

This patchwork square had a blank space that was begging to be stitched on. 

So, Miss H used this cute little stitchery from Lilipopo to fill in the space. 

This is one of Miss H and I's favourite books. 

Before she tried a whole quilt Miss H decided to practice on something smaller. So she used a few of the patterns to make into a mini. 

Cats and a mouse. What a very brave mouse he is!

Miss H used some scraps that the Motehr had given her a litlle while ago. 

It was a very good idea for Miss H to do a practice as the appplique paper was useless and wouldn't stick on. She also needed to practice even blanket stitches... this one is quite even but the kitten and cat are quite wonky. Oops. 

Miss H is going to do a couple more practice ones - a cow for the Mother, a duck, and a pig (from the same scraps as the cats and mouse) - before she makes this coolio farmyard quilt. 

Though I think she should do a sheep for me first!!!

September and Spring have arrived. Yay! 

I have a theme for this month - Soft Storytime! They are something Miss H and I have been working on for quite a while and I can't wait to show you. They are PERFECT for babies and toddlers.

So pop by next week to see the first set.
